The advanced practitioner works as part of the junior medical team and provides pre- and post-procedural care/management for patients undergoing interventional cardiac procedures, including:

  • Angiography  
  • Angioplasty
  • Pacing procedures
  • Anti-hypertensive procedures, such as ROX and renal denervation  
  • Structural procedures, such as MitraClip

The services provided by the interventional cardiology advanced practitioner include:

  • Clinical pre- and post-procedural management of patients' care requirements
  • Medication advice and titration of secondary prevention medicines
  • Assessment for procedures
  • Organising further investigations as required
  • Post-procedural discharge management.
  • Monitoring adverse incidents pertaining to procedures: haematoma, pseudo-aneurysm and retroperitoneal bleeding
  • Providing teaching in the clinical environment for staff and patients
