Joint clinic run by Dr Guy Scadding, Professor Stephen Durham and Hesham Saleh (ear, nose and throat surgeon from Charing Cross Hospital) on a Tuesday morning.
Who should be referred
This clinic is suitable for patients with allergic diseases, which affect the nose, sinuses or upper airway.
Test and treatments available:
- Nasal challenge
- Flexible and rigid endoscopy
- Skin prick testing
- Sinus CT scanning
- Endoscopic sinus surgery and diagnostic biopsy (at Charing Cross Hospital)

Food allergy clinics – Royal Brompton Hospital
Led by Dr Guy Scadding (Monday afternoon) and Dr Isabel Skypala (Wednesday morning and afternoon).

Joint food allergy/gastroenterology clinic – Royal Brompton Hospital
Led by Dr Kinesh Patel, consultant gastroenterologist, and Dr Isabel Skypala. The clinic is held on the first Wednesday morning of the month.
Who should be referred?
The joint clinic is suitable for patients with all types of suspected food allergy, whose symptoms are predominantly gastrointestinal.
Test and treatments available
- Skin prick testing
- Specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) testing
- Access to further specialist testing as required

Specialist diagnostic tests and treatments
- Skin prick testing with foods – this can identify food allergies not always identified by conventional testing
- Molecular allergy diagnosis and detailed knowledge of molecular allergy testing – testing for individual food and aeroallergens, which advances the diagnosis of food allergy
- Food challenge testing – takes place on the day-case unit and provides open and blinded oral food challenges carried out in accordance with international guidelines on best practice
- Drug challenge testing – takes place on the day-case unit and consists of skin prick and intradermal testing followed by oral challenge as indicated
