Royal Brompton Hospital has been named a Gold Class Centre of Excellence by the International Cardio-Oncology Society. In 2011, London’s Royal Brompton Hospital set up the UK’s first dedicated specialist cardio-oncology service. The mission of the service is to improve the cardiovascular health of people before, during and after cancer treatment. This reduces the risk of cancer patients developing heart problems after treatment. Royal Brompton Hospital’s Cardio-Oncology Service is one of only six hospitals outside the US and 15 worldwide to receive GOLD status from the US-based Society, its top designation. Read more

A food allergy expert at Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals is set to be honoured for her work by the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (AAAAI). Dr Isabel Skypala, a consultant allergy dietitian and clinical lead for food allergy in the asthma and allergy group at Royal Brompton Hospital, has been named the 2022 recipient of its Allied Health Professionals Recognition Award. Dr Skypala has been recognised for her commitment to training and mentoring dietitians and healthcare professionals in adult food allergy. Read more
Children and young people have reported overwhelmingly positive experiences as patients at Royal Brompton Hospital, according to a new report. The biennial Care Quality Commission (CQC) Children and Young People’s Patient Experience Survey 2020 revealed that Royal Brompton Hospital performed ‘much better than expected’ for the experiences of patients aged 8 to 15. The hospital witnessed a 7% increase in parent satisfaction with overnight stays. Read more
