Biography
Dr Samatha Sonnappa studied medicine in India, qualifying in 1990. She specialised in paediatrics and did further training at various hospitals in Bangalore. She moved to the UK in 1998 and worked in several hospitals in London. In 2001, she started work as a clinical fellow in paediatric respiratory medicine at Great Ormond Street Hospital, undertook several research projects, acquired her PhD and became a consultant during her time there. She joined the Trust in February 2018 as a consultant in paediatric respiratory medicine and clinical lead for the difficult asthma programme.

Her work has been featured in publications around the world, including the European Respiratory Journal, British Medical Journal and the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
