Biography

Dr Sabiha Gati is a consultant cardiologist at Royal Brompton Hospital, specialising in inherited cardiac conditions, cardiac MRI, and leads the sports cardiology service. 

Dr Gati obtained her MBBS from Guy’s, King’s & St. Thomas’ School of Medicine (2004), MRCP (2007), and a PhD from St. George’s University (2013). 

A published researcher and Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) cardiologist, she has contributed to ESC guidelines in sports cardiology and EAPC leadership. She presents internationally and has co-authored landmark studies, including cardiac screening in adolescent athletes (NEJM). 

Dr Gati is also an honorary senior lecturer at Imperial College London and continues her research at Royal Brompton Hospital, with the support of Heart of West London scheme.

Research interests

Dr Gati specialises in cardiac structural diseases in athletes and young individuals (14–35 years), ECG interpretation in athletes, and preventing sudden cardiac death.

A CRY cardiologist, she has authored several papers, including in Circulation, Heart, and EHJ, and co-authored a landmark NEJM study on adolescent athlete screening. Dr Gati is currently working with Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals Charity and Heart of West London on a research study in ECG interpretation in athletes and young people.
