Biography
Dr Dalal studied at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, gaining an honours degree. He trained in medicine at Hammersmith Hospital, the Oxford training scheme and at the Trust and went on to specialise in radiology at Guy's and St Thomas' hospitals.
His fellowships were at Royal Brompton Hospital (thoracic imaging); the Royal Marsden (oncology imaging) and at University College Hospital (the Ratcliffe Fellowship).
Areas of expertise
Dr Dalal has clinical expertise in:
- Thoracic and oncological imaging and intervention (including endobronchial ultrasound)
- lung transplant imaging
- cardiac imaging
- thoracic intervention (including biopsy, drainage and percutaneous tumour ablation (including radio-frequency, microwave and cryoablative therapies).
Research interests
Dr Dalal's research interests include:
- Lung cancer (imaging and ablation)
- ITU imaging
- Lung transplant imaging
- Cardiac CT imaging
Teaching
Dr Dalal teaches post-graduate courses in radiology and has lectured at several thoracic imaging conferences on imaging and treatment in lung cancer and lung transplant imaging.
He also teaches national and international students at the Trust and organises the Harefield ITU imaging course and the Chest Radiography course.
Memberships
Dr Dalal is a member of several national and international committees and is chair of the National Clinical Reference Group for Specialised Imaging and director of imaging at Harefield Hospital.
Publications
Dr Dalal has edited the European Radiology Journal of the Society of Cardiovascular CT (computed tomography) and the American Journal of Radiology. He has also written book chapters on lung cancer and pulmonary vasculature imaging.
