Dr Mumin Noor is a consultant cardiologist in complex cardiac devices at Harefield Hospital.

Dr Noor gained his undergraduate medical degrees at Imperial College London and Cardiff University. He then completed general medical training in both tertiary and district hospitals in London. Following a period of research at Harefield Hospital, he completed his cardiology training in the North West Thames rotation (London Deanary). His sub-specialty training was in heart failure and complex cardiac devices at Hammersmith Hospital, Royal Brompton Hospital and Harefield Hospital.

He is currently consultant cardiologist at Harefield Hospital and Epsom General Hospital (Surrey).

Areas of Expertise

Dr Noor has expertise in general cardiology, treating patients with a range of conditions including:

  • angina (chest pain)
  • syncope (collapse or loss of consciousness)
  • palpitations
  • hypertension (high blood pressure).

He has specialist expertise in:

  • diagnosing and treatment of heart failure (symptoms of breathlessness, ankle swelling and fatigue)
  • pacemaker and defibrillator implantation
  • cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT)

Research interests and teaching

Dr Noor was awarded a Clinical Research Fellowship at Harefield Hospital's transplant unit in 2010. He gained a Medical Doctorate research degree (MD Res) studying advance heart failure and mechanical circulatory support at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London.

His current clinical research interests include cardiac device therapy in heart failure patients.

Publications

Dr Mumin Noor has published several peer-reviewed articles in publications such as Artificial Organ, European Journal of Heart Failure, Journal of Heart and Lung Transplant, and Heart.

He has recently co-authored a chapter titled ‘Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy for Heart Failure’ in a textbook published by Springer Publishing.

Teaching

Dr Mumin Noor has an interest in medical education and regularly trains undergraduate medical students. He is also an examiner for OSCE tests at Imperial College Medical School.

He has been teaching the Harefield Hospital PACES courses since 2013.
