Biography

Dr Michael Rubens has been a consultant at the Trust since 1981. He was also a consultant radiologist at London Chest Hospital between 1981 and 2004 and was director of imaging at Royal Brompton Hospital between 1996 and 2004.

Areas of expertise 

Dr Rubens is a consultant cardiothoracic radiologist at Royal Brompton Hospital. 

He has an interest in chest x-rays in cardiac disease, and a significant part of his day includes carrying out CT scans for both acquired and congenital heart disease. 

Publications

Dr Rubens has level three accreditation from the Society of Cardiovascular Tomography. His work has been published in more than 100 peer-reviewed medical journals and he has written several chapters on cardiac and thoracic radiology in standard textbooks for radiology, cardiology and in the Oxford Textbook of Medicine.
