Biography
Dr Giovanni Di Salvo qualified in Italy in 1996, going on to obtain his certificate of perfection in Medical Emergencies and to specialise in cardiology. He gained master's degree in medical imaging in 2002 at the Katholieke University of Leuven, Belgium, and his PhD in cardio-respiratory physiopathology and associated biotechnologies in 2004.
Dr Di Salvo has worked across the globe in a variety of institutions, including Naples and Saudi Arabia, before joining the Trust in 2016 as a lead consultant in paediatric echocardiography. In July 2017, Dr Di Salvo became the lead for paediatric cardiology research at Royal Brompton Hospital, and in October 2016 became an honorary senior lecturer at Imperial College, London.

- cardiac function in chemotherapy patients.
His goal is to provide excellent care for infants, children and adults with all forms of congenital and acquired heart disease.

Dr Di Salvo's research interests include:

- congestive heart failure
- infectious endocarditis
- valvulopathy.
Teaching
Dr Di Salvo has had experience in teaching students about cardiology and has held teaching positions at Al Faisal University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and in Naples, Italy.

Dr Di Salvo has written over 200 scientific articles, and a detailed list can be found on PubMed.
He has been a speaker and moderator for a number of prestigious international congresses, including:
- World Congress of Paediatric Cardiology
- European Society of Cardiology
- European Society of Paediatric Cardiology
- European Society of Ecchygiography
- American Society of Echocardiography.
He was the winner of the Young Researcher of the European Society of Echocardiography in 2006, and in 2010 won the best Best Original Article Young Researcher Award for the Italian Society of Paediatric Cardiology.
