‘Singing for Breathing’ sessions are weekly choirs aimed at people with long term respiratory conditions.
Set up in 2008 as one of the first of its kind, the Singing for Breathing group at rb&hArts has gone on to inspire over 80 groups across the country, as well as inspiring our innovative Vocal Beats programme for young people. In 2019 we celebrated Singing for Breathing’s first decade, with The Singing Hospital.
It lifts the heart – participant feedback
Singing for Breathing aims to complement physiotherapeutic support for respiratory conditions through exercises that encourage a better understanding of breath control through the use of the voice.
Group workshops are available weekly with our trained singing for lung health instructors Edmund Jeffery and Rosie Watters. Please see below for timeslots:
- Mondays 11.30am -12:30 – Harefield Hospital Pavilion, Hill End Rd, UB9 6JH
- Mondays 2pm -3 – Online on Zoom
- Tuesdays 11am -12 – The Hut, Alpha Place, Chelsea, SW3 5SZ
If you would like to attend one of our classes for the first time, or to find out more about Singing for Breathing, please contact us at arts@rbht.nhs.uk.
Singing for Breathing is funded entirely through charitable and voluntary donations. We thank the Samuel Gardner Memorial Trust and our ongoing participants for their continued support to the programme.
