March – April: roof complete

Work on site has continued throughout the winter months despite the constraints brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

With the roof waterproofed – equivalent to the size of four tennis courts – the focus turns more fully to the interior. Screeding, the application of a refined concrete mixture to floors, is poured to level the floors of the building and give them a smooth finish; progress continues on the installation of key equipment; and work is underway to connect the site to mains electricity – another key milestone – that will eventually power the centre’s scanners and other imaging devices.
