Biography
Dr Paul Oldershaw obtained a double first in medical science and natural sciences at Cambridge University, before taking a university scholarship at St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School.
Following medical school, he took a junior medical post at St Thomas’ Hospital, St George’s Hospital and Royal Brompton Hospital, and he was appointed as a consultant at Royal Brompton Hospital in 1982.
Clinical expertise
Dr Oldershaw is a consultant cardiologist at Royal Brompton Hospital and his clinical expertise includes:
- general cardiology
- ischaemic heart disease
- valvular heart disease
- heart failure and angina.
Research interest and publications
Dr Oldershaw has an MD thesis degree in ventricular biochemistry and function.
He has written approximately 100 papers on all aspects of cardiovascular problems and published five books.
Memberships
Dr Oldershaw served as secretary to the British Cardiac Society and previously led the cardiovascular division at Royal Brompton Hospital.
