Core medical skills faculty development course

Overview

This one-day course is for clinicians who wish to develop their education and training and become proficient in teaching core medical procedural skills including:

  • lumbar puncture
  • ascitic drain insertion
  • intercostal drain insertion
  • DC Cardioversion and Temporary cardiac pacing
  • nasogastric tube insertion
  • central venous line insertion

Teaching methods will include interactive lectures, practical workshops, and feedback from experienced faculty.

Candidates will be awarded a certificate of faculty development once they have successfully delivered similar training to healthcare professionals. Details for this will be provided during the course. 

Who is it for?

Doctors with at least 6 months of experience in the NHS who have finished their Foundation training (or equivalent) and have done these procedures in clinical settings.
