Biography
Dr Jones studied medicine at Cambridge University. He trained in respiratory medicine at the Royal Free, Chelsea and Westminster, Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals.
He completed his MD (Res) thesis in the department of cystic fibrosis at Royal Brompton Hospital, examining the complex relationships between bacteria during respiratory infections and the effect antibiotics have on these relationships.
Areas of expertise
Dr Andrew Jones is a respiratory consultant who specialises in the management of cystic fibrosis.
He also has expertise in respiratory infections, including patients with bronchiectasis and non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections.
Research interests
Dr Jones' current research aims are based on understanding the pathogenesis of non-tuberculous mycobacteria and the treatment of these organisms.
He also has a particular interest in the pathogenesis of pseudomonas aeruginosa infection, examining its communication systems and relationships with other bacteria in the CF lung.
