Mark Batten appointed non-executive director

Mark BattenMark Batten has joined the Board of Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust, as non-executive director.

Batten, a recently retired senior partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and chartered accountant, has broad experience of corporate finance, restructuring, financial services and real estate. Batten worked extensively with the UK & Irish Treasury on the restructuring of UK & Irish banking systems through the course of the financial crisis and with a number of other Government departments advising on various restructuring matters. He has many contacts within Government and financial regulatory authorities.

Batten is a non-executive director of Picton Property Income (a UK listed property company) and L&F  Indemnity (a professional indemnity insurer); he is also a senior advisor to UK Government Investments, part of HM Treasury.

As well as extensive experience in banking and insurance, Mark has strong operational experience of real estate. His experience of transformation and change programmes, regulated markets and working with Government will also be invaluable. The role of non-executive directors includes contributing to the overall strategy of the Trust, scrutinising performance and making sure that financial controls, governance and quality assurance processes across the hospitals are robust and transparent.
