Nurse recruitment

Nurses make up the largest part of our workforce and are vital to the work we do here at our hospitals.

Part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Brompton Hospital and Harefield Hospital make up the UK’s largest heart and lung centre, specialising in the treatment of heart and lung disease in adults and children.

We have over 800 nurses working at Royal Brompton Hospital in Chelsea, London and Harefield Hospital in Middlesex.

We've recently refreshed our nursing strategy to build on our existing strengths. Our priorities are:

Clinical and professional development for nurses

We actively support the professional and clinical development of our nursing staff by offering a wide range of in-house learning opportunities.

We run study day programmes and ward-based teaching sessions – practice educators are pivotal in supporting both experienced and less-experienced nurses.

We also support our nursing staff to continue their professional development through studying post-registration courses at higher education institutions across London, including:

  • Kings College London
  • Bucks New University
  • London South Bank
  • Kingston University.

In addition, we also offer long course funding to support our nurses in obtaining BSc and MSc qualifications.

Accommodation for nurses

We offer temporary accommodation for nurses who are relocating from areas not within the London or Greater London region, or who have a specific housing need.

Accommodation is usually provided for up to 12 months. After this period, we can provide support to help you find alternative accommodation. Unfortunately, we cannot offer accommodation for family members or dependents.

Staff benefits for nurses

Our locations at Royal Brompton Hospital and Harefield Harefield offer the best of both worlds in terms of atmosphere and lifestyle.
