Researcher development programme

Imperial College Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC) are running a researcher development programme between September 2017 and January 2018.   

The programme is designed to help nurses, allied health professionals (AHPs) and healthcare scientists (HCS) to learn more about all aspects of research, by providing a “research taster” during work-compatible time slots.

The goals of the programme are to enable participants to:

  • evaluate the role of research in clinical practice 
  • discuss different types of research 
  • begin to develop the skills needed to evaluate research papers 
  • understand the processes associated with carrying out a research project 
  • gain experience in developing a research proposal

Medicine and me: Living with bronchiectasis

This meeting is free for patients, family members and carers to attend.

The "Medicine and Me" series of meetings aims to update us all on important medical conditions and gives a direct voice to patients and their carers to share their concerns on the impact of diagnosis, investigation and management.

Bronchiectasis patients and carers are invited to this meeting to learn and share experiences in managing this condition. We have consulted an expert and to date there are no studies confirming there is a significant risk of cross-infection between patients with bronchiectasis. We however suggest patients with an active infection or “flare up” do not attend the day. It is highly recommended that you bring a friend or carer if possible.

Exhale & Exchange

Come along to the Wellcome Collectionin Euston to take part in a creative workshop alongside members of the public and respiratory researchers from Royal Brompton Hospital and Imperial College London. 

The first workshop will use voice, singing and songs as a way of exchanging perspectives, stories and the science of breathing and lung health. You do not need any previous experience of singing to take part in the workshops and no one will be put on the spot!
