Harefield Hospital

Multi-faith chaplaincy and spiritual care

Open to all faiths or none

The Multi-faith Chaplaincy Team at Harefield is for all patients, friends and relatives who care for them as well as staff members, whether they follow a particular faith or not.

If you would like the team to arrange contact with leaders from your own faith or other traditions, please contact us through switchboard or on extension 6533 and we will make the necessary arrangements.

We can also offer:

  • Listening and prayer

  • Places for you to be quiet or to pray

  • Events and activities to deepen your own spiritual life

  • The Christian sacraments (such as Holy Communion and Anointing) on request.

Sacred Spaces

The Sanctuary (Multi-faith room)

The Sanctuary (Multi-faith Room) is halfway down E corridor (turn left at main reception). It is available to all as a place of peace, prayer and meditation.

There are two weekly Christian and Muslim prayer gatherings there:

  • "Time with God" (Tuesday 1 pm
  • Friday Prayers for Muslims (midday on Fridays).

There are Bibles, prayer mats and more which you are welcome to use whilst there.

The Chapel

The Chapel is on the first floor of the building opposite the main entrance, next to the Concert Hall. It is available to all at any time. If you should find it locked, please ask for the key at reception.

The weekly Holy Communion service is held in the main hospital.

Regular events

There is a weekly service of Holy Communion at 3:30 pm on Sunday afternoons in the Outpatients seating area behind main reception (please see notices for details). It includes the opportunity to receive anointing for healing for healing for yourself or on behalf of someone else.

"Time with God" is a short informal gathering, which usually includes a short Bible study and time for prayer. It is normally held in in the multi-faith room which is on the ground floor in E corridor from 12 pm to 12:30 pm on Thursdays. This is open to everyone.

Friday Prayers for the Muslim community take place in the multi-faith room.
