Royal Brompton

The wards at Royal Brompton Hospital have a variety of layouts. Some wards have single rooms only and others have a mix of single rooms and four to six bedded bay areas. Male and female patients may share the same ward, but will have separate bays and bathrooms.

There are exceptions, for example in intensive care and high dependency areas where male and female patients may be cared for in the same bay so that they can receive the specialist medical care they need. We always ensure that appropriate privacy and dignity is maintained.

We consider privacy and dignity as being important for all patients and if you have any questions about this issue, please contact the ward manager or modern matron who will be able to help you with this matter and answer any questions you may have.
